The smart approvedused programme includes:
Every approvedused car is inspected by a skilled smart trained technician
all factory-fitted equipment is checked to ensure it is in full working order each car is thoroughly road tested before going on sale you'll receive a copy of the technicians check sheet
Independent companies verify:
- there are no outstanding finance charges
- the car isn't registered as a stolen vehicle or an insurance write-off
- the chassis and registration numbers are the same as those recorded by the DVLA
- an independent check on the vehicle's mileage record is carried out, you will receive a certificate to confirm this*
All approvedused cars will not require routine servicing at the customers expense for a minimum of 1,500 miles or 3 months from the date of sale (whichever comes sooner).
smart used vehicles, regardless of age, will benefit from our comprehensive 12 months unlimited mileage warranty, provided the vehicle has covered less than 100,000 miles at the date of purchase.
This warranty will either be the balance of the original warranty that covered the car from its first registration, a stand alone used car warranty or a combination of the two.
With unlimited mileage cover and no individual claim limits, this is one of the most comprehensive used car warranties available.
smart approvedused cars are covered for a minimum of 12 months roadside assistance that ensures you are back on the road with the minimum of inconvenience 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
MOT test failure
Every smart approvedused car comes with MOT Test Failure Cover. This benefit covers the owner against the cost of repairing, replacing or altering covered parts (up to the purchase price of your smart) that are cited as being the reason for the failure of the MOT Test on the VT30 Certificate.
Should you not be satisfied with your approvedused smart for any reason, you are entitled to exchange it at any time within the first 30 days or 500 miles of ownership (whichever comes sooner).
terms and conditionsShould you wish to exchange your car, the selling retailer must be notified in writing within 30 days or 500 miles (whichever is the sooner). The car must be returned to the selling retailer for the exchange. The selling retailer will replace the vehicle with another smart of equal or higher value. If the vehicle is of higher value, you must pay the difference. Should you require a replacement car like the original, the selling retailer will endeavour to replace the vehicle with the most similar one available but is not obliged to provide you with an exact replacement for the original car in terms of colour, specification or mileage. No compensation will be paid by the selling retailer for any modifications made to the originally purchased car during the period it is owned by you (e.g. alloy wheels, hands-free car kit). If the originally purchased car was purchased via a finance agreement, you must pay any costs associated with terminating that agreement and subsequently starting another for the purchase of the replacement car. You are responsible for the repair of any damage caused to the car between the time of its sale and its eventual replacement. Any repair must be completed by a competent repairer and be to smart-agreed standards. You are responsible for all costs relating to the transfer of cherished number plates. The exchange plan is only valid for the first vehicle purchased by you. Any exchange on subsequent vehicles will be because that vehicle has a fault which the retailer is unable to rectify. This exchange plan applies only to the smart products. Your statutory rights are not affected.
We will pay up to £50 per day including VAT towards the cost of a replacement vehicle if your car is being repaired under the smart approvedused warranty programme.
The smart approvedused warranty is valid for up to 60 days per annum for driving in the Republic of Ireland and mainland Europe.
We will pay up to £100 towards overnight accommodation should your vehicle break down and you are unable to return home.
